The Last Will and Testament of William P. Lear Sr. (WPLSr) / William P. Lear / Bill Lear was admitted to probate on June 26, 1978. Court proceedings started on June 5, 1978 with a Petition for Letters Testamentary.
The Last Will and Testament of WPLSr directed that all of his assets be distributed to the Lear Family Trust.

Patrick Christopher Lear and Christian William Lear entered the Second Judicial District Court litigation (Case #PR78-2800) on March 18, 2004 soon to be joined by eight other cousins and siblings. That litigation has led to several appeals with the Supreme Court of the State of Nevada. Patrick Christopher Lear filed several appeals that were joindered by unliateral action of the Nevada Supreme Court into case #45856.
On November 18, 2005, Patrick Christopher Lear filed an additional appeal with regard to an Order awarding Attorneys Fees to Trustees. While this appeal was properly part of case 45856, the Supreme Court determined that this was a separate appeal. The Supreme Court assigned #46388 to this case.
On April 21, 2006, the Second Judicial District Court of Nevada determined that WPLSr's grandchildren were vested beneficiaries of the Trust. On May 19, 2006, the Trustees appealed that decision and it is filed under case #47379 in the Nevada Supreme Court.
In October/November 2006 and in February 2007 a hearing was held in the Second Judicial District Court of Nevada in regard to accountings, breaches of trust, and numerous other matters. The Hearing resulted in an order that bore little in common with the facts presented in the hearing. That order was appealed and is filed under case #49684 in the Nevada Supreme Court.
